Maik Grüner, at Raakel’s backyard Ramp took the cover.
Want to know what a life without social media can bring?
Forget algorithms. Forget influencers. Forget staring into the glowing void while your brain slowly turns into warm soup. Think back to the good old days of skate zines—photocopied, stapled, folded, traded, and treasured like contraband passed between skateboarders in the shadows.
Enter Kobi and his legendary Polish DIY publication, Szrot Zine.
Issue #45!
Forty-five issues deep. That’s not a hobby anymore—that’s a life sentence. While the rest of the world is busy chasing likes, Kobi keeps feeding the photocopier and documenting real skateboarding one page at a time.
After he rolled into Tallinn for a taste of Skoone Bastion and the city’s thriving DIY scene, he asked us for a few illustrations and stories from Estonia’s finest collection of skate weirdos. Naturally, we obliged.
The result?
A mind-bending animated cover featuring none other than Maik Grüner launching himself into skateboarding immortality at Raakel’s not-so-secret-anymore ramp. Pure madness printed on paper.
Inside you’ll find ten glorious photocopy-style pages packed with photos, scratches, stories, and enough plywood energy to power a small nation. Skoone Bastion, Metsakooli, Krulli—it’s all there. The magazine practically smells like fresh ink, concrete dust, and healing road rash.
Featuring familiar suspects such as Meelis Erm, Jaagup Mägi, Kristo “Kusti” Õismets, Oskar Sikk and a whole gang of local lurkers who have spent far too much time rolling around abandoned corners of Tallinn.
This is DIY publishing in its purest form. No corporate sponsors. No marketing department. No nonsense. Just skateboarders documenting skateboarders because nobody else will.
Want a copy?
Send a love letter to Kobi at szrot.zine@gmail.com and join the underground postal network before the ink dries.
We’ll be dropping a copy at Krulli on our next visit for anyone brave enough to hunt it down.
Huge thanks to Kobi for keeping the dream alive, one photocopied page at a time.
The postcard has been sent back to Poland.
Now we wait patiently for the Polish invasion.
