Back in the dusty chaos of 1976, when polished contest skating still ruled the magazines, C.R. Stecyk III unleashed the legendary Dogtown Cross into the world. Wes Humpston and Jim Muir splashed it across skateboard decks, and suddenly a piece of wood became a declaration of war against the ordinary.
The streets of Venice became the laboratory. Empty pools became cathedrals. Style became everything.

Then came another explosion. Mike Muir moved into Jim’s house, fired up Suicidal Tendencies, and accidentally welded punk rock and skateboarding together into one loud, unstoppable beast. The soundtrack got faster, the graphics got meaner, and skateboarding would never look back.
Five decades later, the fire still hasn’t gone out.
Dogtown and Suicidal Skates continue to do things the only way they know how—by staying skater-owned, skater-operated, and stubbornly original. As they proudly say: “Our only crime is being original.” That’s not marketing. That’s fifty years of scraped knees, broken boards, backyard pools, and refusing to follow the crowd.
