HELSINKI GNAR-GNAR — Bowl Contest in Kontula, Finland

When winter drags on like a hangover that won’t quit, there’s only one cure—grab your board, hit the road, and hunt down the heat. This time the fix came from the Helsinki Gnar-Gnar bowl contest in Kontula indoor park—a bomb shelter turned plywood playground where sparks fly and the walls sweat.

Jartsi Heikkinen, Nightwood team mate from Kuopio, Finland with a sick layback grind !

After a few messages flying between Kuopio and Tallinn, Nightwood’s feline fury Jartsi gave us the call: “Let’s go!” Jaagup Mägi, Meelis Erm, and I piled into the wagon, bound for Finland. The plan? Skate, sweat, survive—maybe even win something… but mostly just to escape the cold claws of Krulli for a while.

Arina Rahman always fast and stylish. Here with a smooth smith grind.

The whole show was cooked up by Fourdown Distribution and the Helride Collective—and what a stew it was! The bomb shelter bubbled like a witch’s cauldron—fastest lap, longest grind, best trick—gnar by the ladleful. The Windmill team was ripping, the Finns were flying, and the vibes were hotter than a sauna in August.

Mikko Kymäläinen, Kymis, crailslide on the deep-end.
We brought the Estonian flavor, shared the session, and left with minds melted and legs fried. Here’s the photo proof. Next time, don’t just scroll—jump on the boat and ride the storm!
